I guess that posting about my garden being my “Happy Place” tempted fate. Between the time that I posted this morning and now, my winter garden has been crushed. By a large piece of plywood falling on top of the garden. The softer plants, like arugula and lettuce are just bent over and might be okay, but the leaves of the kale and cilantro, which have more rigid stems, all snapped off. There is nothing to do but go out and try to salvage the parts of the plants that were left. I guess that I will be eating a whole lot of salads this week.
I am so disappointed – the garden was doing so well.
aaaaaarghhhh!!!! I feel for you
Oh Chrystal — sooo sorry to hear that your Winter Garden is damaged — and boy, do I understand that feeling of “tempting fate”. I know this may sound hollow — but take pride in the fact that it was lovely, that you made it lovely, AND that you were present enough to the moment to take it in — and take photos. As you said, hopefully those memories will help you get through the fall and winter…
So sad to read this Chrystal. I saw your garden when I was tending the bees. Both Art and I were impressed by how good it looked. You looked to have the winter garden thing well under control and we were envious of your state of affairs. What a tragedy. So sad, too bad. I send you sympathy, and a hug. Enjoy the salad salvage!
